Every senior session I shoot becomes my new favorite. It’s not because i’m fickle - it’s because I love each and every one. The connections I build with my clients give me life. Kadey’s session was no exception.
Kadey’s mom wanted to give her a special experience for her senior pictures. She’s the class of 2021 - the class we had hoped would be over Covid and get to experience an amazing final year, full of homecomings, proms and graduation - but instead, got a year of hybrid learning and virtual experiences. After we booked our date, the three of us jumped on a Zoom call to plan the session. Kadey and her mom wanted a session that reflected her personality - someone who is casual, fun and LOVES being on the water. They shared pictures they found on Pinterest that they loved so we chatted about where we could go to create a similar look at feel. We narrowed down our day to 3 locations: a fun field location, a downtown urban vibe and a gorgeous waterfront boardwalk. The best part of it all? We found all these amazing locations within driving distance in Harford County, Maryland.
The day of we started at beautiful Jerusalem Mill in Kingsville, Maryland. Normally, I could spend a session just at this location. But we were on a mission! Kadey wanted a location with tall grass and texture - and lucky for her, I knew an incredible spot nearby that doesn’t look like much from the road but man, does it photograph beautifully. After navigating the weeds and a few attempts at parallel parking on a tiny country road, we got the shots we needed and we were off to our next location! We stopped by downtown Bel Air, where we found some glass front buildings (swoon!), incredible iron steps and a fun alley to create a more urban look for Kadey. Lastly, we went Concord Point Lighthouse in Havre de Grace. We absolutely drove some miles … and I think walked some miles too! The boardwalk at Concord Point is beautiful - and L-O-N-G.
The session was an incredible bonding experience. I’ve known Kadey’s family for almost 10 years as her little brother Cole was best friends with my middle son, Brady, but I never really got to spend time with her. I was so thankful for this incredible photoshoot and the ability to get to know her better and see Cole’s amazing spirit shine through her. The future holds some magic for her - I can feel it!!!
